Sprint Pulls Out All the Stops to Help the NHS
Sprint Tool and Die are proud to be working in partnership with Ricoh 3D, based in Telford, to achieve high volume production of a Face Shield to assist in the nations efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sprint Tool and Die is a leading UK mould maker which has been serving the medical manufacturing industry for over 30 years. Based in Telford, Sprint is a preferred supplier for a diverse range of applications requiring high specification moulds, such as medical, automotive, computer hardware and measuring equipment.
This week, however, the focus has been on supporting the nationwide effort to tackle the COVID-19 crisis, aiding Ricoh in the production of thousands of face shields, designed for frontline NHS staff.
Ian Amos, Sprint’s Managing Director said: “The production of the face shield mould tool started on the 1st of April, since then we have been working around the clock and the tool will be ready to go into full production next week.”
Mark Dickin, Additive Manufacturing & Moulding Specialist at Ricoh 3D commented: “Our long-term partner Sprint Tool and Die Ltd were the obvious allies for Ricoh 3D in the fight against COVID-19. They have been working tirelessly to turnaround full production tooling in less than 3 weeks that will see our 150-tonne machine manufacture 40,000 face shields a week for NHS and frontline workers.”
