Rutland Plastics Joins Green Growth Programme
After joining the Made in Britain group in 2021, Rutland Plastics has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by becoming a member of Made in Britain’s Green Growth Programme. The Programme is dedicated to helping its members become more sustainable, fit for the future, and focused on achieving the UK’s COP26 targets, which include net-zero by 2050.
The Green Growth Programme uses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12, to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns, as its foundation. One of the greatest global challenges is to integrate environmental sustainability with economic growth and welfare by decoupling environmental impact from economic growth and doing more with less.
Rutland Plastics has been working on its sustainability journey for several years and the company is on course to produce their millionth kWh this year from their solar panel installation. The award-winning injection moulding manufacturer’s production processes are managed with careful concern for the environment and the company recognises that their environmental sustainability efforts are one of continuous improvement.
To date, Rutland Plastics is able to demonstrate its commitment to the environment through its self-funded programme of:
- Electricity generation from 900 PV panels, all purchased electricity is through the Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) scheme
- ‘Free air’ cooling systems
- Smart lighting
- Waste recycling on-site facilities and off-site partner recycling
- Reduction of paper waste generation through implementing ePayslips
- Office paper recycling
- Cloud-based storage and document sharing
- Investment in new more efficient moulding machines and ancillary equipment
In addition, Rutland Plastics has held ISO14001:2015 Environmental Management since 2008.
