Protomould Plastics Open New East Yorkshire Site

Protomould Plastics have announced the completion of their newest factory building. Built and situated on the same site as Plas-Tech, the Protomould factory has been significantly expanded and now has its own operating space.

When they originally acquired Protomould in 2013, the machinery for their East Yorkshire site was situated within the Plas-Tech factory.

The machinery soon moved to a small converted storage building which has now been significantly outgrown. As a result of positive growth the new building was a necessity to sustain the business. At over 5000sq ft the building will have 7 machines (with plans to grow) and will soon have its own offices incorporated into the building.

With the increase in floor space, operators are given much more room to access machinery. This provides them with the ability to decrease tool changeovers times and carry out maintenance checks with significant ease and speed.

Tom Ketley, Account Manager at Protomould, commented:

“The old building, which adjoins the new factory, will now be home for Protomould’s tooling and machinery centre. This building will house our two milling machines for both vacuum forming and injection moulding tools. This is a further area of the business we hope to grow and we now have the space to do so.”

Based in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland and with its head office in Brandesburton, East Yorkshire, Protomould is a provider of quick turnaround injection moulding tooling and components in a range of plastic materials.

Protomould specialise in delivering cost effective tooling and component part solutions to a wide customer base across the UK, Europe, the USA and even China. Their expertise includes low volume component production runs using cost effective tooling designed and manufactured in-house.
