Protomould Increase Capacity as Investment Continues
Protomould Plastics has received continuous investment since it joined the Polyplastics Group in 2013 and this has continued throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. This month the company has doubled its machine capacity with the delivery of four new Sarac injection moulding machines.
Over the last few months, the effects of COVID-19 have changed the world and the landscape for business, especially in the manufacturing sector. As we all adapt to these new challenges, it is great to have some good news amongst all the uncertainty, as Protomould Plastics forge on with its expansion plans, despite the Coronavirus pandemic.
With a continued focus on growing the business, the decision was made to replace their fleet of time-served injection moulding machines with some brand new, made-to-order machines. Protomould took delivery of four new Sarac injection moulding machines this month, which doubles the company’s moulding capacity.
The investment in an increased machine capacity follows significant investment in a new factory building, which was completed in 2018.
In addition to its in-house tool room and vacuum forming capabilities, Protomould’s injection moulding machine list now comprises of:
- 50T Boy machine
- 60T Sarac (x2)
- 90T Sarac
- 130T Sarac
- 160T Sarac (x2)
- 260T Sarac
- 320T Sarac
Quick decision making by the Shareholders and a fantastic effort from the Sales and Technical teams allowed Protomould Plastics to react quickly to meet the demands of NHS and industry by fulfilling PPE orders for use across the UK throughout the pandemic.
Although the future for UK manufacturing remains uncertain, Protomould is happy to have served the country during this crisis and at the same time, protect both the business and its customers’ supply chain.
