Plunkett Associates Showcase Variety of Processes at Subcon

At the beginning of June, Plunkett Associates attended their first show of the year, exhibiting at The Engineer Design & Innovation Show within Subcon.

Subcon took place at the NEC in Birmingham between 6 – 8 June 2017.

Plunkett Associates showcased the huge variety of processes and options that they can provide clients. Their strapline, ‘We Get Things Made’  both mystified and amazed, as they explained the breadth and depth of what they actually can do to get parts made.

With low volume production parts being their speciality, and specialist, trusted suppliers across the globe, visitors started to see the benefits of not having an allegiance to any particular process, allowing Plunkett Associates to provide an unbiased solution to each and every project. To get an idea of the scope of processes and materials they work with, take a look at their Examples page.

Plunkett sent their new recruit, Cheuk, along to see what it was all about. As a first timer to the show, he commented:

“It was the first time I’ve represented a company at a big event such as Subcon, so it was really exciting!

The piece that caught the most attention on our stand as always, was the wheelchair and it’s peculiar suspension design – you can read more about the Loopwheel design and the aluminium die cast part in our showcase article further on.

In addition, the clear polished exhibition piece on our front desk dazzled quite a few passers-by, they were quite surprised to find out it was highly polished CNC’d acrylic!

We also had an aluminium tool on show, highlighting the possibilities for low volume plastic injection moulding.

It was a fantastic opportunity for me to be able to look around the exhibition, seeing what other companies were showcasing – a 5-axis CNC machine and a live 3D scanning system at work; 3D printers creating bespoke parts before your eyes… and I wonder what metal balloons could be used for?”
