Plastics Industry Awards 2019 Now Open for Entries

Entries have opened for the 2019 Plastics Industry Awards, #PIA2019, which culminate in a glamorous, black tie gala evening and spectacular live entertainment in “The Greatest Show” at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Friday 27th September 2019.

Companies and individuals including product designers, OEM manufacturers, suppliers, plastics processors, consultants, apprentices and trainees from across the plastics sector in the UK and Republic of Ireland are encouraged to enter in 15 different award categories. The deadline for online entry at www.plasticsawards.com is Friday 31st May.

“Now in their 19th year, the Plastics Industry Awards recognise the many diverse ways in which plastics product design, manufacture and recycling contribute to successful and sustainable innovation in everything from medical devices to lightweight automotive components,” said Matt Barber, Sales and Events Director at Crain Communications. “They are our annual opportunity to acknowledge and reward the individuals and organisations that lead the plastics industry.”

Environmental achievements are recognised in the best environmental or energy efficiency initiative award and the best recycled plastic product category, sponsored by RECOUP. There is also a new category this year for Materials Innovation.

Design awards include separate categories for the plastic consumer and industrial products of the year as well as the prestigious Young Designer of the Year, the winner of which will receive a £1,000 prize, donated by Motan Colortronic. Additional categories recognising industry innovation include best business initiative, best training and development programme and best technology application.

Individual awards include the Apprentice or Trainee of the Year and an Unsung Hero Award. The Apprentice or Trainee of the Year Award carries a prize of £500 donated by the Polymer Machinery Manufacturers and Distributors Association (PMMDA). For the Unsung Hero Award, organisations are invited to nominate a staff member who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in their day-to-day work life.
