Performance Masterbatches Brings 42 Years of Masterbatches and Compounds to Interplas 2017

Performance Masterbatches Ltd (PMB) was established in 1975 and has been manufacturing polymer specific colour masterbatches and compounds ever since.

Over time the product list has grown to include additive masterbatches, multifunctional masterbatches and masterbatch for PVC.

PMB has been supplying the colour for many iconic brands for the last 40 years and has earned the trust of the industry to get the balance between quality and price right.

FOOD PACKAGING is fast becoming more technical with both consumer safety and the circular economy featuring significantly in the formulation make up and cost consideration. PMB feel they are ahead of the game in this field and are successfully working with and supplying several of the large food packaging sheet manufacturers in Europe. This is an area that PMB have forecasted significant growth for the next few years.

The AUTOMOTIVE sector has boomed in Europe and PMB are pleased to say they have been part of it. Three years ago their factory and our processes were turned upside down by one of the large automotive manufacturers over a six month period. At the end of the audit they were awarded a significant contract and have been supplying them without issue since. This contract gave PMB the credibility to approach others and they are currently in the midst of a large R&D project with another major that they are confident will be successful.

The CONSTRUCTION sector demands include masterbatch for PVC, polycarbonate and additive masterbatches as well as the more common PE & PP masterbatches. PMB supply all of these to the industry and are also hoping to be supplying into the Middle East building boom very soon. Many a conservatory roof has been made with their product!

Over the last ten years the company has built on its solid reputation and has tripled in size, serving customers all over the world and in all business sectors. Recently they acquired another 11,000 sq ft facility adjacent to its existing premises of 20,000 sq ft. This has enabled them to increase production capacity and to hold more call off stock for their larger customers. The company has invested heavily in capital equipment over the last five years and its fleet of machines are probably one of the youngest in the industry. This increases productivity, efficiencies and ultimately quality. Their latest investment has been for an X-Rite computer colour matching system which has upgraded their ageing datacolour system. They also have use of an Infra-red spectro which accurately measures the amount of additive in their finished product to give customers peace of mind that the correct amount is actually in the masterbatch!

PMB is also proud of its R&D effort. The company has recently been involved with seven other partners in a European wide project researching the benefits and the applications of Nanotechnology. The project was groundbreaking and the company has gained a valuable insight into the area which will result in new products like self-healing plastic in due course.

PMB Ltd is well established in Europe but is also now supplying masterbatch to South America, Russia, Hong Kong, Malaysia. Together with developing strategic partnerships, PMB is well placed to extend its global reach.

PMB will be running a competition on their stand at Interplas, with a prize of £100 for the winner. Come along and try your luck – the PMB team will give you a warm welcome. They are located on stand F12 and look forward to seeing you.
