General Maintenance & Diagnostics Ltd Acquire Birmingham Granulators
Gary Meekin, Managing Director of GMD, has confirmed the company will acquire all ongoing business activities of Birmingham Granulators, based in Tamworth. Both companies will retain their trading names, ahead of the official changeover of activities on 1st April.
Gary Meekin, Managing Director of Bolton-based General Maintenance & Diagnostics Ltd (pictured, right), has confirmed the company has agreed with Tim Aaronricks (pictured, left) to purchase the ongoing business activities of Birmingham Granulators Ltd. The business name ‘Birmingham Granulators Ltd’ will be retained by Tim so he can continue to focus on second-hand machine sales, special projects and consultancy work. GMD will continue to focus on service and installation work, blade sharpening and spare parts sales.
General Maintenance & Diagnostics will also become the exclusive agent for England, Scotland and Wales for the Cumberland brand of recycling machinery, a division of ACS Group.
The changeover of activities will commence on 1st April, and both parties have agreed the main focus will be to ensure that the existing customers of Birmingham Granulators and GMD will continue to receive the same outstanding level of service they have experienced to date.
GMD operate from Bolton, Lancashire, but Gary and his team of engineers already cover a large portion of the UK and feel it will not be a problem absorbing the extra workload. However, to facilitate extra cover, GMD has already employed Jill Webster to take over the day to day administration, and office duties from Gary and GMD have further plans to employ at least one more engineer in the coming weeks.

Gary Meekin adds, “We hold a strong market position and acquiring the ongoing business activities of Birmingham Granulators adds to that strong and reliable customer base. As we already have a large range of Cumberland Granulators being operated by our existing customers, taking on exclusive agency rights was a natural thing to do.
“We will be working closely with the ACS group over the coming months to strengthen their presence in the UK. This will include new machine sales from single units to complete cells, as well as parts and service support.”
