Firm Marks 20th Anniversary with Debut at Leading Industry Event

Respected engineering firm Direct Engineering & Site Services Ltd is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The Chesterfield-based business marked two decades providing engineering and site services to a wide range of sectors throughout the UK and Europe with its first appearance at the Interplas UK show at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham last month (September 2017).

The family-run firm started in humble beginnings as a small fabrication shop but has grown into one of the most versatile engineering companies in the East Midlands region.

Managing Director Ray Woolley said: “We began in a 500-square foot unit but today sit in premises 50 times bigger with 34 staff members and are looking to recruit further.

“We’ve expanded dramatically and offer a one-stop-shop to our clients but our ethos has remained the same; we are 100 per cent committed to our customers’ total satisfaction.  Not only are products manufactured to exact requirements but we always aim to surpass quality expectations and delivery requirements.

“We are delighted to be appearing at Interplas for the first time to showcase our expertise and demonstrate what we can offer.”

Direct Engineering offers: laser cutting, CNC turning and milling, steel fabrication, sheet metal and stainless steel fabrications, CNC pressing, electronics assembly and inspection all under one roof, enabling it to ensure quality assurance and a faster turnaround for its customers.

Its team of highly skilled and experienced engineers enable the company to offer a full in-house service from design to delivery.

Direct Engineering is renowned for its pipe installation and has been involved in the design and installation of the largest piping systems in blue chip companies, both in the UK and mainland Europe.

One recent contract involved work for famous tea brand Typoo.

The Engineering Manager at Typhoo Tea, said: “The recent installation by Direct Engineering, of the overhead gas main at Typhoo Tea was completed on time with the minimum of disruption. It is a testament to Direct Engineering, that the planning, design and prefabrication of the pipework off site resulted in such a faultless installation despite some trying weather during the install. The installation engineers were a credit to the company and their behaviour on site was exemplary. In all, I am a very satisfied customer and can recommend Direct Engineering to deliver.”
