Fairgrieve Compression Moulding managing director, Barry Davidson, has hailed the completion of a recent contract to supply thousands of confectionery trays to a world-leading sweets and snacks specialist as an example of how the business leads the way in the industry.
The order saw the Fairgrieves team switch to 24-hour working to ensure the order for its market-leading starch trays could be produced and delivered to the client in a matter of weeks.
Key to securing the contract, and being able to meet the tight production timeframes, was the company’s 600-ton press machine, which can make large thermoset parts, as well as, of course, Fairgrieves’ long history and reputation for supplying into the confectionery market.
Flexible working ensured a quick turnaround
“This was a contract for which we were chosen due to the standard and capabilities of the tooling and machinery on our factory floor, our willingness to be flexible and manufacture day and night to offer a quick turnaround, and also of course the decades of compression moulding we have across our team,” said Mr Davidson.
“As the order came at what was already a busy time at our business, we had to work plan our production schedules with precision to ensure we are able to accommodate it alongside our other work, meeting deadlines for all customers.
“This contract required the use of our largest machine, a 600-ton press, which is something that sets us apart from many others in the market when businesses are needing larger parts to be made. We have been taking increasing orders for larger parts pressed on this machine in recent times.
“It was a contract which really demonstrated how we lead in the market.”
