The combination of high load capacity, stability, ease of use, flexibility, and efficiency makes ENGEL’s viper linear robots a first-class solution for automation in injection moulding production. ENGEL will showcase these robots alongside the highly flexible easix articulated robots and conveyor systems at the Automation Expert Corner. Thanks to their seamless integration into ENGEL control systems, these automation solutions enable synchronised movements between the robot and the injection moulding machine, leading to reduced cycle times and simplified setup processes.
viper 20 Dual Robot with Multi-Level Box Transfer
At ENGEL’s Automation Expert Corner at Fakuma, the viper 20 dual robot (Image 1) impresses with its space-saving and highly efficient design. By utilising iQ motion control to optimise cycle times, part removal times can be reduced by up to 30%. The new combination hand axes with 48V drive technology are compact, and the integrated vacuum-saving circuit reduces compressed air consumption by up to 90% – a critical cost factor in continuous operation. Another highlight of this system is the newly developed multi-level box transfer, which allows for quick box changes and is directly integrated into the ENGEL control system.
viper 4: User-Friendly Control and Energy Efficiency
The second exhibit, the viper 4 (Image 2), gives trade fair visitors the opportunity for hands-on experience. Its simple and intuitive operating philosophy, supported by integrated assistance systems, makes programming easy and requires no special prior knowledge. This system also stands out for its energy efficiency. Thanks to a vacuum-saving function, the vacuum generator only operates when the vacuum level drops below a certain threshold, leading to significant energy savings. This automation solution offers outstanding value for money and demonstrates how modern technology can be easily and efficiently implemented in practice.
Bin-Picking Cell: Intelligent Cycle Time Optimisation
Another innovative solution from ENGEL is the bin-picking cell (Image 3). The separation of bulk parts with complex geometries is often time-consuming. ENGEL presents a solution with this cell: a stationary camera is positioned above the bins for part recognition, speeding up the analysis process and supporting the robot’s task. While the robot is still positioning one part, the camera can already identify the next optimally grippable part. This technology is fully integrated into the ENGEL control system, simplifying product changes and the entire setup process.
These three exhibits demonstrate ENGEL’s leadership in automation, showing how intelligent systems and thoughtful engineering can enhance the efficiency and flexibility of plastic processing.
