Boddingtons Primed for Medical Technology UK
Leading medical device manufacturer, Boddingtons, will exhibit at next week’s Medical Technology show, buoyed by recent successes in the pharmaceutical and medical device markets.
An order placed with the company at Pharmapack Paris in February is now well underway via reverse engineering, with subsequent design-for-manufacturing plans approved and with tooling set to be ordered in the coming days.
The second order comes from an ongoing collaboration with a consortium that includes one of the UK’s leading ear, nose and throat specialists: Boddingtons CEO Andy Tibbs says that “we are very excited about the prospects for this particular new medical device.”
Tibbs adds that “this is the way that medical innovation, collaboration and manufacturing should truly happen; from new devices that have been generated by the people that actually use them – surgeons and specialists from actual medical practice in patient care and in operating theatres.”
A three-year rapid growth production plan has been forecast for the device, with designs and patents for the assembly being approved before moving to the design-for-manufacturing considerations and then tool builds and finally into production following product registration & validation activities.
Medical Technology UK is the second annual edition of the exhibition. It takes place at the Coventry Building Society Arena on March 22-23. Over 120 exhibitors will meet buyers and specific visitors at the show. The new exhibition continues to promote communication, strength and cohesion within the UK medical supply chain. Medical Technology UK is the sister exhibition to the long-standing and successful Medical Technology Ireland show, which takes place in Galway this year, September 20-21, 2023.
The sold-out innovations for the show in 2023 include an extensive learning programme on both days that industry experts have assembled: Professor Tony Young OBE, the National Clinical Lead for Innovation at NHS England, will open proceedings at 11.30am on Day 1, March 22, and he will then chair a session on the future of Medical Technology Innovation.
Boddingtons was one of the first companies to sign up for Medical Technology UK, the brainchild of medical marketing experts Colin Martin and Jason Moss. Chris Philpott, Boddingtons Commercial and Technical Manager, said “we are delighted to be returning to the exhibition in Coventry this March 22-23. Recent successes have proved to us the value of getting out of the factory and marketing ourselves this way; networking, trying new audiences, locations and niches under the general umbrella of medical device manufacturing.”
Recent investments– in various Class 7 cleanroom expansions, in the Mitutoyo Quick Vision Active CMM machine and in the universal MDR medical quality qualification – have strengthened the company’s staying power in this market, showing also its commitment to global medical markets.
After Medical Technology UK the Boddingtons’ marketing year continues with a full exhibition presence at the Med-Tech Innovation Expo show June 7-8, 2023.
Boddingtons exhibition year concludes at Medica Compamed, Düsseldorf, November 14-17, where the company has been an exhibitor for the past four years.
