New Machinery Helps BEC Keep Up with Demand

It’s been a busy few months at BEC Group – demand for tooling and moulding has been sky high, and with many new customers looking to reshore, make suites of mould tools, or experiment with new recycled materials they have certainly had their hands full!

As part of their drive towards continual improvement, increased efficiency, and lowering energy consumption wherever possible, BEC has invested in several new machines across our facility.

An Arburg Allrounder 570 C was installed in September to replace an older version in the mould shop. The newer model has a clamping force of 200 tonnes and shot weight up to 434 (PS). This investment not only ensures the reliability of the machinery but also has an Arburg AES energy saving system for lower energy consumption than previous versions.

In October, BEC installed a Boy 60EVV Procan Alpha Injection Moulding Machine into the filters department. This insert moulding machine has a clamping force of 600 kN, with shot weights up to 157.6 (PS). As the BEC filter department continues to grow and produce tens of thousands of filters a month this new machine will be help BEC to deliver great quality filters on time.

In the toolroom, a new XYZ 2000 Manual Milling Machine has been brought in to increase capacity for tooling in conjunction with existing CNC machines. Manual mills such as this take up less time and cost on both programming and machining than their CNC counterparts.
