Arburg Takes on 104 New Trainees

104 new recruits started their careers at Arburg on 1 September 2023. A total of 327 trainees and students from the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) are currently taking advantage of the opportunity to train as qualified personnel at the world’s leading manufacturer of machines for plastics processing. Managing Partner Renate Keinath, who is responsible for Human Resources Management, welcomed the prospective employees on behalf of the entire management team.

The current total number of 249 trainees and 78 students is clear proof of the high priority given to training at Arburg,Renate Keinath said. “Even and especially in economically difficult times, we are sticking to our high training quota of around ten per cent. Because it will be our qualified junior staff who will continue to move our company forward with their expertise.”

The prospective employees, who come from 38 different municipalities, are as diverse as the professions and courses of study. Some of the trainees are older than 30 and have already gained initial work experience. And increasingly, young women are pursuing technical training, e.g., mechatronics, machining, and electronics technicians.

Varied introduction

The 2,000 square metre Vocational Training Center provides a central contact point and the future workplaces. To make it easier to start on a career path and get to know the “Arburg family” better, training manager Michael Vieth and his 20-strong team have put together a comprehensive program. During an introductory week, the newcomers are given the opportunity to discover the company and get to know their trainee colleagues and cohort supervisors, who are on hand to give them advice and support. Other activities include a tour of the company and a presentation of the product range and corporate philosophy. In addition, a team-building event and joint barbecue are planned.

Triple training certification

The family business in Lossburg, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, is continuing to train apprentices at a steady pace, and takes on virtually all of its trainees and students into permanent employment every year. In order to expand the high level of its training, Arburg works closely with vocational schools, the cooperative state universities and the Black Forest Campus and has been the first company in Baden-Württemberg to be awarded triple certification since 2018: ISO 29993 for quality management in training, the LQW award (learner-oriented quality testing in further education) and the seal of approval of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK).
