APT & QPP Invest to Bolster Automotive Projects

West Midlands-based companies Automated Paint Technologies and Quality Plated Plastics have invested in two brand-new Negri Bossi injection moulding machines to support company growth. The investment follows plant and process improvements.

The newest 800-tonne machine is due to be delivered at the end of June, and will immediately begin work for high-volume mould and chrome projects for the Range Rover models L460 and L461.

In 2019 John Timmins (pictured right), the director of Automated Paint Technologies (APT) and Quality Plated Plastics (QPP), had the unique opportunity to take over an exceptional facility designed to support high volume projects for plastic moulding, painting and assembly with the opportunity to install a brand-new “state-of-the-art” Cr6 free chroming line.

The 800-tonne machine making its way to the West Midlands is a Negri Bossi V800-4250 low-profile machine, fitted with an energy-saving screw drive and pump configuration. It features a Sytrama S10S robot, has a mould clamp and locking force of 800 tonnes and a maximum shot capacity of 2365g. In addition, the platen size is 1550 x 1400mm.

Together APT and QPP have 24 moulding machines ranging between 55 tonnes and 1100 tonnes, with the capabilities of gas injection, twin-shot and mono-sandwich moulding:
