Aluminium vs Steel Tooling – a Practical Study from RJG Technologies

EUR ING Prof. Simon Vaitkevicius BEng (Hons) MSc CEng FIED – Consultant Trainer at RJG Technologies will be presenting on the Introducing Stage at Interplas 2017.

He will be covering a recent study RJG have completed on Aluminium vs. steel tooling – a practical study.

The presentation will give an overview on a study that RJG Technologies have been undertaking for a customer who produces very high quality aluminium material. They were looking to provide a quantifiable differentiation between the aluminium they produce and others on the market. RJG have helped design an innovative two cavity tool to produce a simple product which doubles as a test piece and “giveaway” for customers. The tool includes the eDART pressure and temperature sensor technology, which analyses in-cavity parameters between the aluminium and steel sides of the tool.

The presentation will cover the findings of the differences between the aluminium and steel side of the tool and draws conclusions on the implementation of aluminium mould tools for production tooling.

Simon is a consultant trainer with RJG Inc. who has over 20 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer, initially working globally for Nokia UK, then establishing and managing his own Engineering training business, design consultancy and 3D printing bureau. Simon joined RJG Inc. in October 2016 and has been active in the delivery of training courses and consulting in new product development.
