Kerry’s 310-Mile Charity Cycle for CALM
Due to this year’s challenges, Kerry Cochran, Managing Director of Lean Business Solutions, has had to adapt his usual charity event from a beach clean and a music night, to a solo bike ride. Kerry is raising money for CALM, a UK-based suicide prevention charity, in memory of his son Lloyd.
This October, Kerry Cochran of Lean Business Solutions will be cycling 310 miles over 31 days to raise money for the CALM charity (Campaign Against Living Miserably). CALM is a leading movement against suicide in the UK, and the charity offers support to those in a mental health crisis, as well as supporting those bereaved by suicide. The charity encourages families, friends and supporters to share their experiences and open a dialogue to get the help they need, before reaching a point of crisis.
One way of spreading awareness is through campaigning and fundraising. One of CALM’s charity events is the Lost Hours Walk, where participants create their own route and walk, run or cycle against struggling in silence, against being alone, against living miserably.
“125 people take their own lives every single week in the UK. We’re walking to send a message that that’s not ok. This October, join us as we walk forward, together against suicide with our communities, family and friends. It’s not about the hours walked or the money raised, it’s about uniting to smash the silence around suicide in the UK.” – CALM.
Kerry’s fundraising journey has already begun, and he has already successfully broken his initial £1000 target, but he is keen to continue and raise as much money as possible for the charity.
Kerry Cochran comments: “The pandemic has thrown us many challenges this year, and I have had to adapt my normal charity events to a solo bike ride. Due to my condition, I will be riding 310 miles in 31 days to raise money for CALM, a UK-based suicide prevention charity, in memory of my wonderful son, Lloyd.
“Thank you to all of you who have contributed so far. I have reached my target of £1000, but as I have halfway to go let’s see what total we can raise and the more we raise, the more CALM can help people in crisis and hopefully save lives.
“REMEMBER! Especially if you are a man or this current situation is affecting you in any way, please please talk to someone. Also, if you see a family member, friend or next-door neighbour exhibiting different traits, talk to them, it might just save their life! Please use the link below to sponsor me if you can, thank you so much.”

Kerry, congratulations on hitting your goal! Let’s see how much we can raise and help open the dialogue on such an important topic.
