Wittmann Battenfeld UK and TEMI – Limitless Potential
The Wittmann group has entered into a joint venture with the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) producer ICE-flex.
With this move, Wittmann and Wittmann Battenfeld worldwide have taken another important step to offer all customers optimal production solutions as an extension of WITTMANN 4.0.
ICE-flex, based in Saronno, Italy, is a supplier of innovative MES solutions tailored primarily to meet the needs of injection moulding companies with up to 50 machines per production plant.
The company’s TEMI control system made its debut at the WIBA UK Open House event earlier this year and was immediately popular, securing two UK-based orders within as many months.
Unlike many competitors, the TEMI MES system has been created bespoke for the needs of injection moulders. Barry Hill, WIBA UK Managing Director says that ‘we are delighted that ICE-flex and TEMI are now part of our business going forward. The TEMI software supports various manufacturer-dependent versions and interpretations of Euromap 63, which cover virtually all machine manufacturers on the European market.’
Barry will be present at the Fakuma 2018 exhibition (October 16-20, Friederichshafen, Germany) where the new Euromap 77 protocol will also be introduced as an additional future communication standard. And digital I/O connections with TEMI will also be available for older machines.
WIBA UK will now sell the package developed by ICE-flex for production planning, monitoring and data storage under the brand name TEMI+.
Hill says that ‘the plus sign stands for the support of functions which can be realized through Wittmann 4.0 technology. In this way, it is now possible to connect not only injection moulding machines with TEMI+, but simultaneously – and automatically – also all the auxiliaries in the production cell.’
Any alterations in the composition of the production cell are recognized automatically within the cell, and the new configuration is subsequently displayed and saved correctly by TEMI+ without the need for any operator intervention.
With this function, the Wittmann Group is the first manufacturer in the plastics industry able to offer MES functionality not only for moulding machines but for all related for auxiliaries on the shop floor.
